The 'Adding a Driver' or 'Driver linking' functionality gives you the ability to link a vehicle with another driver's profile so that both of you can update the odometer and add any service notes.
For the case of the public using this feature, this might be applicable if you have a daughter, sibling, or parent using the same vehicle.
For the case of a company fleet, this will be for shared cars so you can keep track of RUCs and service notes while the driver is on the road. It's beneficial for tracking when a service based on kilometers is coming up, monitoring RUC usage and health and safety, allowing drivers to enter any service notes, such as a chip in the windscreen that needs attention, a tire going flat, or fluid changes.
How to add a driver:
At the moment, you can only do this via our Bonnet desktop portal. Remember, you can access this with the exact same credentials as you have been using for your app!
Login here >>
Once logged in, click on the 'Add a driver' button in the top right corner; here:
Once you see the pop-up, enter the email address of the driver you want to add, select the vehicle number plate or plates you wish to link, and click 'Invite.'
If they are a user, they will get an email and notification informing them of the driver link, and if they are not a user, they will be sent an email with information to sign up for Bonnet to confirm the link.
They need to then log in to the desktop version of Bonnet and go to the 'vehicle invitations' page to accept the request. (To accept, they must log in via fleet.bonnet.co.nz on mobile or desktop; invitations can not be accepted via the app.
It's important that you must use the email address associated with the other user's Bonnet account if they already have one, or the car won't be added to their account.
Once the driver receives the email with their username and password, they need to log in to Bonnet at fleet.bonnet.co.nz. Then, they should navigate to the 'vehicle invitations' page located at the bottom left of the menu and click 'accept' here.
Once the vehicle is linked, you both will see a green link icon on the vehicle you linked. No other vehicles on either of your accounts will be linked, JUST the one/s you choose to link.
Now sit back and enjoy sharing service notes, odometer readings, WOF, REGO, Warranty, and service dates! Easy as!
